FAQ: USEFUL INFORMATION



FIRST DAY IN BARCELONA

Before leaving home, we recommend you to consult hostel’s web: www.barcelonaurbany.com

From the hostel We are asked to wait CHECK-IN until Wednesday23rd , 13pm for cleaning up the rooms.
BUT if you come earlier, WE WILL START WELCOMING Hostel Residents ON WEDNESDAY 23rd from 10.30 to 13. (Urbany Hostel, Av. Meridiana, 97)
We have given a tour guide to arrive in the Hostel (so-called “Friendly guide”). Download it from the webpage.

STEPS TO COMPLETE CHECK-IN

1. You’ll be given a Correct state room’s  information report sheet by Jaume (rooming list responsible). Please check everything is ok in your room. Sign the sheet and give it back to Jaume.

Then you will talk to Octavi , the treasurer fromACGiL, to check your fee current state (if needed)
 
2.You’ll be given one key and sheets per person  and you’ll be requested to make a deposit 10 EUR .
10 € Deposit will be returned to you when checking out by returning back the magnetic key and blankets to the receptionist.
This 10€ deposit will not be returned if you:
 >>   don´t check out on Sunday 27th later than 10.30 SHARP.

 >>   have any bad report of the correct state of your key or blankets.

3. Price of hostel doesn’t cover towells. You can ask for all towels you want (they charge you 2 EUR for this rented service). You can bring towells with you to save up this charge.

4.You’ll be given a Firedrill Report Sheet. Please read carefully and follow instructions. You are asked to accomplish this rules

5. WIFI Internet access is included in the price. The access password  is  ”barcelonaurbany.com”.

6. Rooms are not very big. We encourage you to bring small suitcases better than big suitcases.


 ADVISES AND WARNING


Meals. Drinks during Meals

Timetables included in the FORUMBCN2010 programme.
Meals in Catalonia and mediterranian countries are slightly later from average Europe.Take into account Lunch is usually served at 13.30h onwards. Dinner time is at 20.30h onwards, by a self-service way in two shifts.

We have asked you special needs on menu. Each meal is foreseen to have offers for: no specifics or salt, vegetarians, gluten free, and lactose free. Ask for your menu.

                       1.Meals include water but do not include refreshments or alcoholic drinks.
                            
                       2.Those who wish them can access to drinks at bar.


Transportation card

1. You’ll be given (every two persons) a Travel card T-10, that is, a 10 full journeys using all means of transport inside the city borders. Multi-person ticket with time limit: 1h 15.

2. This card will cover the five runs per person, expected to be done in external activities outside Orfeó Martinenc and Urban Hostel.

St.John’s day

Celebration 23rd night John’s Day is rather exhuberant with fireworks all night long. You may need ear taps to get sleeping night.

Gay Pride Events


 ---- Barcelona is celebrating pride events the week Forum Conference is taking place, on SATURDAY 26th and also on SUNDAY 27th.
 ---- We encourage to participate in the Gay Pride Parades on Saturday and Sunday, both have different routes across the city.

 --- Please bring all kind of plackards of each organizations and country.
 --- Sunday Parade will be held when Forum Conference is finished for those who are remaining in Barcelona


Dinner / Dancing at Torre Catalunya (Saturday 26th)


1.Torre Catalunya offers an extraordinary view of Barcelona. You can take extraordinary pictures there.

2. You are invited with two tickets for the  dancing party. One ticket= One refreshment. Two tickets= one alcoholic drink. You can either choose two refreshments during party or one alcoholic drink. Due to hotel legal reasons, no more drinks can be available that night delivered by Torre Catalunya Hotel.
                                                                  

Bookstall

You can bring books and materials to be sold or delivered during the conference.


Pickpocketing

Specially in summer, take care of your belongings mainly with your passport and money. Carefull in the streets of Barcelona.
